General Motors has announced the assembly of the 500 millionth GM-branded vehicle. This colossal achievement puts the GM brand miles ahead of any other automaker.
In recognition of this major accomplishment, GM would like to thank all who have owned a GM-branded vehicle over the years. There have been a half-billion GM-branded vehicles manufactured over 106 years, but it’s our customers who create memories, celebrate successes and reach countless milestones along life’s journey. You give GM vehicles life by making them a part of yours.
To show our enduring gratitude, GM CEO Mary Barra and GM Executive Vice President Alan Batey surprised wounded veteran and loyal Chevrolet owner Trent Brining with the keys to a new 2016 Malibu during an event at the Fairfax Assembly Plant. The celebration was attended by customers, employees and dealers.
Among some of the other big announcements, Alan Batey noted that GM will invest $174 million toward state-of-the-art equipment and advancements at the Fairfax Assembly Plant and also recently shared a plan to invest $5.4 billion in GM U.S. manufacturing to enable vehicle improvements that benefit customers.
Here’s to another 500 million and beyond.
